OUR SERVICES

Couples & Family Therapy

When family relationships feel strained, it can affect everyone in the home. Ongoing conflict, changes in family roles, parenting challenges, or difficulty communicating can leave family members feeling frustrated, disconnected, or unsure of how to move forward. Family therapy provides a supportive space where each person can feel heard, better understand one another, and begin making meaningful changes together.

At BAFTS, we provide family therapy and family counseling for families with diverse backgrounds, structures, and experiences. Our therapists help families improve communication, work through conflict, understand one another’s perspectives, and change patterns that may be contributing to stress or disconnection. Rather than focusing only on problems, we build on your family’s existing strengths to help create healthier relationships and a more connected, supportive home.

Parent-Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT)

For families with young children, we also offer Parent-Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT), an evidence-based treatment that strengthens the parent-child relationship while helping parents address challenging behaviors. PCIT is especially helpful for children struggling with frequent tantrums, defiance, aggression, difficulty following directions, or other behaviors that create stress for children and their families.

Unlike traditional parenting support that focuses primarily on talking about what happens at home, PCIT gives parents the opportunity to practice new skills with their child while receiving live, individualized coaching from a therapist. Parents learn practical strategies to strengthen connection, encourage cooperation, set effective limits, and respond calmly and consistently to challenging behavior.

PCIT begins by building warmth, trust, and positive connection between parent and child. From that stronger foundation, parents learn effective approaches to setting limits and increasing cooperation. The goal is not simply to improve behavior, but to help parents feel more confident in their parenting and help children feel more secure, connected, and successful within their family.
